What is an Apostille?

For our purposes, it’s a page stapled to an official document to certify authenticity. You get it at the office of the Secretary of State where the document has been issued.

Why do I need an Apostille?

In order to be accepted by the Russian Federation officials each document has to be accompanied by an Apostille issued by the Office of the Secretary of State in a respective state and by a certified translation.

Where do I get an Apostille?

It depends on the state where your document has been issued.

For instance: Texas, Oklahoma, Alabama, Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri

How long does it take to get an Apostille?

Usually about a week to 10 days by mail. If you need it faster, Expedited service is available upon request.

What documents do I need to include with the Russian citizenship application for the child?

  • Certificate of Birth with Apostilles
  • Marriage License/Certificate/Record with Apostille
  • US passports of the parent and child (if any).
